DESCRIPTION:Please join the Council for Working Women for our March 3rd Luncheon\n\n\n\nSpeaker: \n\nScott Paddock\, VP of External Affairs\, Silver Cross Hospital\n\n\n\nThis month's topic will be: \n\nCareer Transitions: Be Open to the Possibilities on your Career Journey\n\n	How career transitions can be invigorating\n	How you never really know where your career journey will lead you\n	Putting yourself in positions to come across new opportunities.\n\n \n\n Speaker Bio:\n\nWith a history of success in brand marketing and general management roles\, Scott Paddock was named Senior Vice President of External Affairs for Silver Cross Hospital and Medical Center in November\, 2020.  In this role\, Paddock oversees the organization's marketing and communications\, governmental affairs\, community programming\, volunteer services\, as well as fundraising for the Silver Cross Foundation. \n\nPrior to joining the Silver Cross executive team\, he served as a member of the hospital's Board of Directors for eight years\, including a term as Board Chair.  Silver Cross Hospital achieved the "Triple Crown for Healthcare" in 2021: a place on the Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals list\, a 5-Star Rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and an A for Patient Safety by the Leapfrog Group.   \n\nPrior to joining Silver Cross\, Paddock served as President of Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway\, overseeing all aspects of Illinois's largest sporting facility.  The multi-purpose sports and entertainment complex annually hosts a broad array of programming encompassing more than 125 events\, including major motorsports entertainment\, endurance events\, musical concerts and festivals\, corporate training seminars\, industry trade shows\, and much more.  Scott was tapped to serve as a member of the leadership team which\, in collaboration with consultant McKinsey and Co.\, provided strategic consultation on the historic merger between NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation.  \n\nBefore joining NASCAR\, Scott was the Director of Sports Marketing for the Gatorade Company\, a division of PepsiCo Inc. In this role\, Scott was responsible for the management of the brand's 120MM sports marketing sponsorship portfolio\, including all league\, team and spokesperson relations and negotiations\, while serving as a key member of the Gatorade Leadership Team. \n\nScott began his career in the sports industry with Sports Partners\, a sports marketing and advertising agency and division of Italia & Associates.  Prior to his tenure with Sports Partners\, Scott embarked on a professional basketball career\, which included stops in six different countries.  He represented his country as a starter on the United States Olympic Committee's (USOC) National Team\, earning a silver medal in the 1995 Pan-American Games.\n\nScott received his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame\, where he was a student-athlete as a member of the men's basketball program.  During his senior year\, Paddock received the Byron V. Kanaley Award\, the most prestigious honor presented to a Notre Dame student-athlete for demonstrating exemplary leadership. \n\nHe previously served on a number of boards and committees\, including USA Basketball's Board of Directors & Executive Committee and the Athlete Advisory Council (AAC) to the USOC.  Scott currently serves on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Illinois\, the Will County Center for Economic Development\, and the Illinois Tollway\, in addition to being a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.  He was named a member of the Sports Business Journal's prestigious Forty Under Forty class for 2008.   Scott and his wife\, Marcy\, reside in Orland Park\, Ill.\, and have two daughters.
