2015 CWW August Luncheon: Women, Leadership & Mentoring

Women, Leadership & Mentoring
Presented by Dr. Cheryl McCarthy, JTHS Superintendent

Join Joliet Township High School Superintendent Dr. Cheryl McCarthy as she presents the topic of Women, Leadership and Mentoring.  Dr. McCarthy is the first woman to be appointed JTHS Superintendent, a position she has held since 2011.  As Superintendent, Dr. McCarthy leads a staff of nearly 1,000 employees and a student body of over 6,000.  She is known for her collaborative approach to leadership which led to the District's Chicago Tribune Top Workplace Award for the last three consecutive years.  In addition, she was named the Joliet Region Chamber of
Commerce Athena Award recipient in 2014 for her community involvement and educational leadership which resulted in many innovative initiatives such as the district's 1:1 computing initiative and Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentor 2.0 partnership.

Dr. Mc Carthy believes in developing leaders from within the organization and actively serves as a mentor to administrators, staff and students.  As a first generation college graduate, Dr. McCarthy feels very fortunate in having outstanding role models in her life who have provided the guidance and mentorship that have allowed her to become the foward-thinking and collaborative leader she is today.  She enthusiastically works to continue the tradition fo mentorship to assist women, staff and students in reaching their full potential.
