With more than 50 years of experience in education and decadeds of community involvment, Larry will share Leadership Tips for the Servant Leader, offering insights on leading with purpose, serving others, building meaningful relationships, and making a lasting impact in both your professional and personal life.  Whether you are an established leader or looking to grow your leadership skills, this luncheon will provide an opportunity to learn from Larry's experience and perspective.

About the Speaker: 

Larry Wiers has dedicated more than 50 years to education and community service throughout the Joliet Region. During his 33-year career with Troy School District 30-C, he served in numerous roles before becoming Superintendent of Schools. He later joined Lewis University’s College of Education as an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership. Since retiring from Lewis in 2018, Larry has continued to make a significant impact through his volunteer and leadership work with organizations including Joliet Junior College, Guardian Angel Community Services, the Joliet Community “Y,” Vista Learning, and the Plainfield Lions Club.

Larry’s commitment to serving others has earned him numerous honors, including the 2025 Joliet Junior College J.D. Ross Extraordinary Service to Community Award, the 2025 Greater Joliet Area YMCA Bill Lauer Service to Youth Award, and the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce. Through the Plainfield Lions Club Christmas Basket Outreach Program, he has helped provide assistance to more than 3,300 families, while his work with Vista Learning has helped provide nearly 1,500 computers to children and families in need. Larry’s greatest pride, however, is the lasting impact he has made on his students, his community, and the many individuals he has had the privilege to serve.
