Wreaths Across America at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery

Wreaths Across America at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery

The annual Wreaths Across America event at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will take place Saturday, December 13th.  The 11am ceremony will be followed by volunteers spreading across the cemetery to visit those laid to rest there and place a wreath of remembrance against their headstone.  Wreaths are sponsored by family, friends, local businesses, fundraising groups, and the community.

Due to the large number of attendees, parking is off-site for anyone without a handicap plate or hang tag.  The Walmart Distribution Center in Elwood is the off-site parking location.  Illinois Central School buses will be transporting attendees from the off-site parking into the cemetery.  Buses will run from 8:30am - about 1:30pm in a continuous loop.  Suggested arrival time is between 9:30am - 10am to enable time to get into the parking lot.  Waiting in one's vehicle for a bit is advised over arriving at the last minute.

There is a free luncheon hosted by Stone City VFW, located at 124 Stone City Drive, Joliet after the event.  The meal is provided by Farm2Veteran, a local Manhattan non-profit organization whose goal is to grow good healthy food and provide it free of charge to veterans.  There will be a raffle and items for sale to raise funds to help purchase wreaths for the 2026 Wreath Day event.
